Pity Party for One please

Last night, John informed me he went ahead and purchased the plane tickets for he and Savannah. They are flying to see John's brother, Matt (yes, my kids have two Uncle Matt's, lol), graduate from Veterinary School at LSU. The graduation is May 11. I can't go because I start summer classes that day, and Kylei will be in school too, so she can't go. It breaks my heart that my baby will be going on her first plane ride without me. I feel bad for Kylei too b/c she won't get that experience at the same time. I have a feeling she'll be disappointed when she finds out. :(

I have felt pretty miserable the last week, and things don't seem to be gettting much better. I slept for about 12 hours last night, and am home alone now, trying to feel up to writing lesson plans and do other homework assignments. Meanwhile, my family is at my parents' house enjoying a lovely cookout without me.

I guess today is just a pity party blog. Sorry if you're still reading.

  2. Thanks Penny. I'll be doing my student teaching this time next year, so not much left.

I'm afraid I've made John sick now...which is not good. oopsie.

  3. sorry you're so sick, lady. don't envy john too much--the first plane ride can be rather embarassing if your kid gets fussy and whiny. --people hate you for a couple hours solid because your kid won't let them sleep! it's a fast way to lose a popularity contest.

BUT one thing we did with devon helped. the first time when he was just old enough to interact, he HATED the landing; the bump jolted him and he freaked out. So every flight after that, starting about three or four minutes before landing, we'd start saying, "we're gonna gooooooo BUMP" and give him a tiny jolt in our laps. it became a game and he liked it and so the real bump did bother him at all, it was just the last bump of the game. i know your girl is older than that, but something similar might relax her from all the turbulence and such.

i sure hope you get better soon.
